Homewood Shades Creek Greenway, also known as the Lakeshore Trail, will one day stretch 6 miles through Homewood. Currently,  the trail consists of 3 miles that run parallel to Lakeshore Drive along the floodplain of Shades Creek. In the future, the City of Homewood has plans for the trail to extend all the way to Jemison Park, a 54-acre natural oasis in the city. Along the way, you'll bypass Homewood High School, Samford University, office buildings, Target, Fresh Market and the restaurants at Brookwood Village. There are water fountains and parking spaces at both ends of the trail.
