February Membership Luncheon Featuring David Carrington, Jefferson County Commission, President

Our February Membership Luncheon will be on Tuesday February 19th at 11:30 am, The Club. Our guest speaker will be David Carrington, President of the Jefferson County Commission.

David Carrington won the June 2010 Republican primary to represent District 5 on the Jefferson County Commission with more than 66% of the vote. Since David won the primary election without a runoff and since he had no Democrat opponent in the general election, David was able to invest his time between June 2010 and November 2010 preparing for his new office on the Jefferson County Commission. District 5 includes Vestavia Hills, Mountain Brook, most of Homewood, and portions of Hoover, Irondale and Leeds.

Shortly after being sworn into office on November 10th, 2010, his fellow Commissioners elected David to be the Commission president. In this role, David presides over Commission meetings and serves as a member of the Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex (BJCC) Board, the Jefferson County Health Department Board, the Jefferson County Convention Bureau Board and the Birmingham Business Alliance Board. As a commissioner, David chairs the Administrative Services Committee, which includes oversight responsibility for the Human Resources Department, the Environmental Services Department and the County Attorney's Office. He is also the Commission's primary liaison to the Jefferson County Personnel Board and the County's Pension Board.
